Happy Birthday Gene Wilder!
We became friends because we respected each other’s work and we like each other as people. I trust his taste and his intelligence and his point of view. I feel a kinship with him, an affinity as though he were a relative, which is very nice.

A part of her was a little nutty, me too, but a part of her was so dramatic, sincere, emotional. One time when we were filming Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother I was directing and I wanted her to be very emotional at a certain point. She was lying and lying, so instead of saying ‘Come in Ms. Liar’ I said 'Come in Ms. Whore!’ Tears coming down, she carried on, she did the scene, but the tears were coming down her cheeks. She was brilliant.
